Bed Bath & Beyond Recalls Solar Lighted Cantilever Umbrellas Due to Injury Hazard

Aug 03, 2010 - The recalled product is a 13-foot Solar Lighted Cantilever Umbrella. The umbrella has tan or chocolate colored material, lights and a black supporting pole. The UPC numbers are 444444550439 (tan) and 444444583963 (chocolate) and can be found on the product packaging. The model numbers are 8070C-S and 8070C-L and can be found on the assembly and operating instruction that were enclosed with the product packaging.

A plastic connector which attaches to the arm of the umbrella can break, causing the umbrella to collapse. This poses a risk of injury to the user.

Sold at: Bed Bath & Beyond stores and online at www.bedbathandbeyond.com and www.bedbathandbeyond.ca from February 2010 through June 2010 for about $300.

Incidents: The firm has received 21 reports of units collapsing. Minor injuries were reported in three of those incidents including a bruise, abrasion and nausea.
